Storm drains are the drains that you see at the street corners or low points in the street or parking lot.

3. What is stormwater?

Stormwater is water from rain, snow, sleet, or hail that flows across the ground or pavement when it rains. Stormwater either seeps into the ground or it flows into the drains. These drains are connected to an series of underground pipes that discharge directly into streams and creeks.

4. Why is stormwater a concern?

As stormwater travels across the ground it can pick up pollutants and carries them directly to the nearest creek or stream. This water is not treated before entering our creeks and streams.

5. Why mark storm drains?

Storm drain marking informs others about the street-to-river connection. Help reduce pollutants entering the streams, rivers and lakes. Storm drain marking is a great way to earn conservation badges and for neighborhoods to mingle with protecting water quality.
