1. How do I obtain digital files of GIS data layers?

Digital geographic data of York County can be downloaded, for free, by visiting our GIS Data Download page.

2. How do I get a printed map?

Pre-printed maps can be purchased from the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce. For contact information, please visit their website: http://www.yorkcountychamber.com . 

3. What improvements / alterations can I make to my property?

For specific questions regarding the zoning for your property, you will need to contact the appropriate zoning department. For those living within city limits, please contact your local municipal zoning department. For those living in the county, please contact the

York County Zoning Department.

4. How do I find ownership information?

We have several ways to find ownership information. You can search by address, Tax Map ID, or subdivision within One Map

5. Where can I find a plat of my property?

Available plats can viewed online. There is a link to the Register of Deeds site on the One Map reports. Also, you can use their search or directly contact the

Register of Deeds Office.

6. Is my property in a flood zone?

You can lookup FEMA floodplain as it relates to your address by using One Map

7. My property looks different than what is presented when using the One Map website. Why is that?

Always check the officially recorded document for the legal description of the property. The digital drawing of the property boundaries is an approximation of the legal documents. For the plat or legal description of the property in question, please contact

the Register of Deeds.

8. My property is not drawn correctly (e.g., the boundary is drawn on top of my house). What should I do?

If you find a discrepancy in your address or parcel information, use the Report Parcel and Address Errors Form to inform County staff about the issue. 9. How do I view/download historic aerial imagery?

We have aerial imagery available from 1970 to present. To download aerial imagery, please visit the Open Data Portal.  To view imagery, visit One Map.

10. How do I obtain elevation data?

Topography and other LiDAR derived products are available for download by visiting our GIS Data Download page.

11. How do I report an error with an online mapping application?

12. Why is the "deeded acres" area on some parcels blank?

The "Deeded Acres" section is maintained by the Tax Assessor's Office. Sometimes the tax assessors value parcels as a lot instead of using the “deeded acreage”. In order for you to find the deeded acreage of a parcel, we would recommend viewing the recorded plat. Plats can viewed online (link to Register of Deeds site on the One Map site), or directly contact the

Register of Deeds Office.

13. In One Map, how do I review CAMA Data (e.g., square footage, year built, etc.) for a property?

As of 2020, York County maintains parcel data attributes known as ’CAMA Data’ (such as square footage, rooms, year built) in table form.  Access these property details through One Map as a report to review one parcel at a time.

14. How can I get more specific parcel/property information?

For questions regarding most parcel and property information (such as CAMA Data, property measurements, etc.), please contact the York County Assessor's Office.

15. How can I download LiDAR data?

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) makes LiDAR and related products available for download from their site. For a complete list of what is available and how to download it, please visit the SCDNR Website.
