York County Collection & Recycling Centers are providing residents with free 22 gallon recycling bins. One bin per household, on a first come first served basis.
Beginning, Monday July 2, residents will be required to separate plastic bags from other recyclables at the York County Collection & Recycling Centers. York County will no longer provide free plastic bags to residents for delivery of recyclables to the 16 Collection & Recycling Centers. Funds previously spent on blue bags will now be spent on recycling bins. Eliminating bags from the mixed recycling will help protect the investment made in the new York County Material Recovery Facility and increase employee safety.
Residents may deliver mixed recycling to the Collection & Recycling Centers in a bin, a reusable shopping bag or plastic bag. However, recyclables brought in plastic bags will need to be emptied into the mixed recycling container, and the plastic bags will need to be placed in the designated roll cart. Any plastic bags in the mixed recycling will not be recycled, only the ones placed in the designated carts.
