YORK COUNTY HIRES PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

York County, SC- York County is pleased to announce the hiring of Katherine Jones as the County’s new Parks and Recreation Director. Jones is a seasoned Parks and Recreation professional with nine years of experience in county Parks and Recreation. In her most recent role as the Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation of Lancaster County, SC, Jones was responsible for the planning and execution of daily operations. She developed and administered the department’s budget and managed parks related capital projects.
Jones will begin working for York County on Monday, August 8th. In addition to planning and managing the operations and maintenance of all County and tax district parks, Jones will be responsible for overseeing parks staff; as well as, developing and implementing the Parks Department budget. Furthermore, she will have a key leadership role in the planning, design and construction of the County’s parks capital facility projects.
“Katherine will be a great addition to the York County staff,” said Mike Moore, Assistant County Manager. “Her knowledge and skills, combined with her parks and recreation experiences, make her the ideal strategic and visionary leader York County is seeking to oversee our Parks Department. Jones holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina. Additionally, she is certified Parks and Recreational Professional and Certified Pool Operator. Currently, Jones serves as the Vice President of the Executive Board of the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association.
