[ARCHIVED] York County Provides Online Road Closure Mapping Application

York County Provides Online Road Closure Feature

York County is providing a new online application for residents to utilize to stay informed about York County road closures.  The purpose of this online application is to provide the most up-to-date information on road closures and road blocks so that the public is informed about potential closures and/or blocks that may delay or deter transit plans.

This new online application is located at the following link: https://www.yorkcountygov.com/869/Road-Closures.  Using GIS technology, viewers are able to locate road closures and roadblocks on an interactive map. Users can click on closures to view closure information such as status, detour information, end date, etc. The York County road closure application also provides a listing of closures for residents to quickly view.

“The intent of making this information available is to keep residents and visitors informed of road closures and blocks so that they can plan their travels accordingly; as well as, learn pertinent information about each closure,” said Trish Startup, York County Public Information Officer.

Currently, York County Government is posting road closures for County owned roads, closures submitted by the South Carolina Department of Transportation and various local municipalities, and special events. At this time, short-term road closures related to traffic collisions and/or downed power lines are not reported on the online feature
