During the York County Council meeting on Monday, January 4, 2021, York County Council voted Chairwoman Christi Cox to continue to serve as Chair of the York County Council. Chairwoman Cox became the first female to serve as Chair of York County Council in November 2020.
Chairwoman Cox previously served as Vice-Chair for York County Council (2019-2020), Chair of Finance and Operations Committee (2019-2020), and Chair of the Riverbend Ad Hoc Committee (September 2020-November 2020). Since being elected to County Council in 2015, Chairwoman Cox has served as Chair of the Justice and Public Safety Committee (2015-18), and Chair of the Pennies for Progress Ad Hoc Committee (2015-18). Additionally, Chairwoman Cox has served on the Public Works Committee, Zoning Committee, Planning and Economic Development Committee, and the Health and Environmental Protection Committee. Chairwoman Cox represents County Council District Five.
In addition, Council voted Vice-Chair Robert Winkler to continue to serve as Vice-Chair of the York County Council. Vice-Chair Winkler previously served as Vice-Chair from November 2020 to January 2021. Since 2015, Vice-Chair Winkler has served as Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee and has been a member of the Finance and Operations Committee. Additionally, Vice-Chair Winkler has served on the Public Works Committee, Pennies for Progress Ad Hoc Committee, and the Justice and Public Safety Committee. Vice-Chair Winkler represents County Council District Three.
Before the York County Council meeting, York County hosted the York County Elected Officials Induction Ceremony at the Historical York County Courthouse. During the ceremony, the below York County Councilmember’s took their oath of office and began their terms:
• Councilman Tom Audette, District One (First term)
• Councilwoman Allison Love, District Two (Second Term)
• Chairwoman Christi Cox, District Five (Third term)
• Councilman Brandon Guffey, District Six (First term)
The above Councilmembers will join Vice-Chair Robert Winkler (District Three), Councilman William “Bump” Roddey (District Four), and Councilman Joel Hamilton (District Seven) who are currently serving in the middle of their terms.
