South Carolina state law requires every county to reassess all properties within their jurisdiction every five (5) years. Therefore, in September residents received reassessment notices from the York County Assessor. The York County Assessor is charged, by SC law, with classifying and valuing all real property for assessment purposes.
By law, property owners have 90 days of the date of assessment to file a written objection to one or more of the following:
-The fair market value
-The special use value
-The assessment ratio
-The assessment with the Assessor
As sent out in the reassessment notices, residents have until Tuesday, December 15, to submit their objection in writing to the York County Assessor at PO Box 57, York, SC 29745.
