York County will resume full operation of the York County Material Recovery Facility (MRF) once adequate labor is hired to sort materials. Anyone interested in applying for a sorting job at the York, SC facility can apply at Marathon Staffing at https://jobs.marathonstaffing.com. Plans have been developed for safe operation of the facility while continually monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently the mixed recycling collected at the 16 Collection & Recycling Centers is being sorted and prepared for market at the MRF. “Once fully staffed we’ll be able to accept recycling from local governments and haulers that have a signed agreement,” says Steven Williams, Solid Waste Collection & Recycling Supervisor.
The following items are accepted in mixed recycling at the Collection & Recycling Centers.
-Mixed Paper, Chipboard, Cardboard, Magazines, Office Paper
-Steel Cans, Aluminum Cans, Pans and Foil
-Plastic Bottles, Jugs and Jars with lids
Glass food and beverage bottles, jugs and jars are accepted in designated containers.
