images

Citizens may utilize the York County Office of Emergency Management Public Advisory Line for information please dial 803-325-2400 and press option (1).

There is a boil water advisory now in effect for all water customers throughout York County. This is due to reduced water pressure caused by a water main break at the Rock Hill water filter plant. The advisory is in effect until further notice as a precaution. Please limit water use as much as possible to assist in efforts to rebuild capacity at the plant.

Who does this affect?

This affects all water customers in Rock Hill, York County, City of York, Tega Cay, Fort Mill and the Catawba Indian Nation. This does not affect people who have a well to supply water.

What do I need to know about boiling water for purification?

  • Bring water to a rolling boil and keep it there for at least 1 full minute. Then, let it cool before using.
  • Stop using appliances and equipment that use drinkable water, such as dishwashers, icemakers, tea brewers and coffee makers.
  • Use disposable paper, plastic or foam plates, cups, forks, etc.
  • Prepare food using water that has been boiled.
  • Wash hands with water that has been boiled and cooled.
  • Wash, rinse and sanitize pots, pans and other equipment with water that has been boiled and cooled.
  • Brush your teeth with either boiled or bottled water.

Do I need to use boiled water to bathe?

You don’t need to use boiled water to bathe, but we recommend to not use water for bathing until October 10.

When will this be fixed?

System is back up and running; however, the boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.
