Boil Water Advisory
Water will be cut off at noon in Lake Wylie Area

Beginning at noon on Thursday, May 09, York County water crews will cut off valves that will cause a loss of water service in the Lake Wylie area. Water service may be affected for several hours. York County Water & Sewer customers who are  north of Concord Road on SC 274 will experience an interruption in water service and may experience discolored or “cloudy” water. You are advised to vigorously boil your water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking with it. The water is completely safe for any other non-consumable usage.

This includes the following neighborhoods who are York County customers: Bethelfields, Kings Grove, Hands Mill Estates, and Phase II of the Retreat At Sunset Ridge. Blue Granite customers in the Lake Wylie area will be affected.

Bacteriological samples will be collected in order to determine if there is a presence of bacteria in the water system. York County will have results of the testing on Friday, May 10, and will notify the public. Customers should continue to boil the water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notification by York County Water/Sewer or SCDHEC.

For additional information, York County customers can call York County Water at 803-628-3211 or 803-909-7275. SCDHEC has been advised of the action by the York County Water/Sewer Department and is aware of the status of the situation. If you have any questions for SCDHEC, please contact them at (803) 285 7461.
