York County Water Main Break in Lake Wylie
Interruption to water service (tomorrow) Thursday, May 8, 9am-4pm
York County, SC –York County crews have identified the water main break issue that has affected both York County Water & Sewer and Blue Granite Water Company (Blue Granite) customers in the Lake Wylie area. Therefore, York County anticipates an interruption to water service (tomorrow) Thursday, May 8, 9am-4pm. York County Water & Sewer customers North of Concord Road will likely be affected. York County neighborhoods affected are as follows: Bethelfields, Kings Grove, Hands Mill Estates, and Phase II of the Retreat At Sunset Ridge. Blue Granite customers in the Lake Wylie area will be affected. Blue Granite and York County are encouraging customers to conserve water until the line is repaired. Please anticipate this outage taking longer than initially determined. Customers may want to purchase bottled water for cooking and consumption until service is restored.
Crews have secured the area on Hwy 274, and will be on the scene tomorrow to make the final repairs to the water main line. Motorists are encouraged to be cautious and expect delays. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes, if possible.
Customers will receive notification if a boil water advisory is necessary through the Blue Granite Water Company’s My Utility Connect notification system and through York County’s notification system. Once repairs are completed and the system has returned to normal working conditions, a second notification will be sent to all customers to rescind the boil water advisory.
