Keep York County Beautiful (KYCB) has been awarded over $15,000 in grant funding from PalmettoPride in the 2019 grant cycle.
With the support of PalmettoPride and Keep South Carolina Beautiful, KYCB initiates and maintains programs such as high school and college scholarships; residential and business/organization volunteer litter cleanups; tools for community events; social media marketing and litter receptacles.
One of the marquee KYCB offerings in 2019 is the mini-grants program. Mini-grants are designed to financially assist the community with projects that promote litter prevention, beautification and/or waste reduction/recycling. Examples of programs that have received mini-grants are as follows: community gardens, litter cleanup supplies, pollinator gardens and school food gardens.
“The grant projects initiate conversations that include the coexistence of economic development with the judicious use of natural resources,” stated Alysen Woodruff, York County Clean Community Coordinator.
Keep York County Beautiful has been the recipient of PalmettoPride grant funding since 2011-during the affiliate’s first year of operation. Since that time, KYCB has benefitted from funding that supports litter prevention/eradication; waste reduction/recycling; and, community beautification. KYCB continues to inspire and encourage residents to take personal responsibility for improving the environment of York County; as well as, works diligently to educate and empower the community to beautify York County through a diverse range of litter prevention, recycling and environmental programs.
