ONGRATULATIONS to our own Wanda Hemphill, Director of the York County Voter Registration and Elections office. Last week she was presented with the Moore Award, the highest honor you can receive in South Carolina as an election official.
The Moore Award is presented each year to the person who best exemplifies the spirit of the organization through their continued unselfish giving of time and by their actions. Moore Award winners have demonstrated a willingness to go beyond the call of duty to ensure the organization grows in a positive direction, and works to make SCARE a more educated, concerned group that promotes training in individuals, as well as each county. Fellow SCARE members from across the state submit nominations and a committee chooses based on the qualifications above.
The Moore Award was established in 1992 by 4th District Congresswoman Liz Patterson, in memory of the late Betty Moore, who worked tirelessly to form a state association of registration and election officials.
Please join us in congratulating Wanda on being honored with this distinguished award!
