Sheriff PIC

The Sheriff’s Foundation of York County, Inc., and Sheriff Kevin Tolson paid tribute to those officers and staff who went above and beyond while in the line of duty for the year 2018 at the York County Sheriff’s Office 1st annual awards. Two York County Emergency Management employees were bestowed with the following honors:

Congratulations to Chuck Haynes, Emergency Management Director, and Mike Channell, Emergency Management Deputy Director, who were both recipients of the Lifesaving Medal and The Medal of Valor. The York County Sheriff’s website describes these honors as follows:

Lifesaving Medal: awarded to an individual whose decisive actions save the life of another person. An individual deserves this award where that individual renders first aid to another who is in imminent danger of succumbing to an injury or illness and where an individual safely removes another from a life-threatening situation.

The Medal of Valor:  awarded to an individual for an exceptional act or execution of duty performed in the presence of great danger and personal risk, without endangering or jeopardizing the lives of others, and performed in such a manner as to clearly indicate that the individual displayed outstanding ability and judgment in the performance of duty.
