[ARCHIVED] Hurricane Michael Update 10/10: 5pm

***** The York County Office of Emergency Management is in close coordination with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division and National Weather Service.

***** Hurricane Michael has made landfall and is moving into South Georgia as a Category 3 Hurricane. Michael is expected to move into York County as a tropical storm Thursday morning into Thursday afternoon; with predictions for wind speeds of 10-16 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Rain fall totals may range from 4-6 inches during this storm. There is a slight threat for tornado activity associated with this storm system especially in the eastern part of the state.

***** Possible impacts from Tropical Storm Michael: down trees, power outages, and localized flooding. We should start to see winds picking up around 5:00 am on Thursday morning.

***** We encourage citizens of York County to review your emergency plans and prepare for possible power outages, fallen trees, heavy rain, and wind.
