York County Office of Emergency Management

***** We have now completed the morning conference calls with the State Emergency Management Division and are now briefing all of our public safety agencies, along with municipal governments and schools.

****** We ask that our citizens continue to prepare for Hurricane Florence. The National Weather Service is indicating that there are changes in the storm’s path and we encourage everyone to tune to local news channels for weather information.

******* We are expecting impacts from this storm system. There are possibilities of damaging winds and heavy rain accumulations. These situations may bring power outages and the possibility of flooding. There are indications from the National Weather Service that this will be a slow moving storm and could be long in duration. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

******* Currently no decision has been made on opening of shelter locations in York County. If the decision is made to open shelters, we will share this information with all local news channels, web-pages, and social media.

******** We will be conferencing with schools and updating each district on the weather situation. School districts will update as needed.

******** The State Fire Office has issued a burning ban in the State.

********* River access at River Park, River Walk Tega-Cay dam access, and Broad River Access will be closed today.
