A. Watts Huckabee, Sr., Founder & CEO

Watts is a Rock Hill native who graduated from Winthrop College in 1989 earning a Bachelor of Science degree. 

 Since graduation, he founded Carolinas Insurance & Investment Group (CIIG) in 1990, and he’s a partner in The Service Center & Muffler Master in Rock Hill.  He is also an investor in The Pump House & Epic Prime Steakhouse Restaurant, as well as a drone company that films aerial footage for CBS & FOX Sports, and a ginseng farm in the mountains of NC, & various other LLCs. 

 Watts is the proud father of Olivia H. Stufflebean & Ansel W. Huckabee, Jr., who are both graduates of Clemson University. Olivia & Ansel are Commercial Insurance Underwriters. Watts is married to retired WBTW Channel 13 Main News Anchor Nicole Boone Huckabee. Nicole has 2 children that Watts loves as his own, Mac & Livie Boone. Mac graduated from Clemson University & works with Barton Mallow Construction Company, & Livie will be graduating from Clemson University in May of 2023. He also has 2 grandchildren, a 6-year-old grandson Simms, & a 6-month-old granddaughter, Willow. 

During his adult life, he has prided himself in being engaged in the York County community by serving on many past and current boards and commissions such as the Winthrop University Board of Trustees for 8 years serving under the pleasure of a Republican David Beasley & Democratic Governor Jim Hodges, the Winthrop Foundation & Winthrop Eagle Boards. He also served as the Chairman of the York County Tax H Commission, a Member of the Board of Governors of ChristmasVille, a Board of Directors for The Piedmont Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, a Board of Directors for the Fort Mill/Baxter YMCA, Ebenezer Avenue School Improvement Council, Presenter of Terrific Kids awards at Ebenezer Avenue School since 1992, member of Columbia Association of Health Underwriters, past Chair of the Upper Palmetto YMCA Corporate Board of Directors, past President & Program Chair of the Charlotte Association of Health Underwriters-“America’s Benefits Specialists”, past member of the York County Chamber Workforce Development Task Force, past member of the Westminster Catawba Christian School Capital Campaign Cabinet and volunteered as a Probation and Parole Officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice.  He is also the past president of the Rock Hill Kiwanis Club, a past member of the Communities and Schools Board of Directors, and a past member of The Children’s Attention Home Board of Directors. From an early age, Watts’ father instilled the genuine priority to quietly support not-for-profits and those in need throughout our diverse local community.  Over his career, he has received many awards and accolades. These include the Winthrop University Distinguished Young Alumni Award, Business Person of the Year Award for York County, and several Annual Best Insurance Agent of the Year Awards.  

As of January, 17th 2023, Watts will join the York County Council as the newest member proudly representing the constituents of the 6th District.
