Chairwoman Christi Cox is a native of York County representing District 5. Christi and her husband Michael reside in District 5 along with their 3 children, Courtnie, Kendall and Porter. Christi graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 1996 and earned her Juris Doctor, with honors, from U.S.C. School of Law in 2002. She is a founding member of Hamilton Martens, LLC, a law firm located in Rock Hill, which practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation and defense.
Christi and her family are members of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church, where she has enjoyed coaching youth basketball. Christi is committed to serving her hometown and has volunteered in various capacities on numerous local and state boards and non-profit service organizations, including serving as the Secretary of The Haven Men's Shelter, President of the York County Bar Association, and as Board Member for the S.C. Board of Accountancy.
Since being elected to serve on the York County Council, Christi has served as Vice Chair of the Council (2019-20), Chair of the Finance and Operations Committee (2019-20), Chair of Riverbend Ad Hoc Committee (2020), Chair of Justice and Public Safety Committee (2015-18), and Chair of the Pennies for Progress Ad Hoc Committee (2015-18).
