Fire Inspections

Responsibilities

Inspectors with York County Fire conduct routine quarterly fire and life safety inspections of all businesses in the unincorporated areas of the county. 5 Deputy Fire Marshals average approximately 2,400 routine inspections per quarter. Certificate of occupancy inspections are also conducted for new commercial construction projects. To request an inspection or to file a complaint, please call 803-620-2270.

All York County Fire Inspectors have been certified by the State Fire Marshal's Office as Resident Deputy Fire Marshals.  Resident Deputy Fire Marshals are required to receive continuing education to maintain their state certification.
 
 New Commercial Construction Projects
The Inspection Division also conducts site and building plans review and inspections for new commercial construction projects. These reviews and inspections include, but are not limited to:
  • Commercial Kitchen Hood
  • Fire Alarms Systems
  • Fire Apparatus Access Roads
  • Fire Hydrant Locations
  • Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Fire Suppression Systems
  • High Piled Combustible Storage Requirements
