Volunteer at the Shelter

Volunteering Overview

Do you have some extra time during your week that you would like to fill with an activity? York County Animal Control could use your help. The shelter located off Highway 5 near the Moss Justice Center needs some volunteers to assist the full time staff. Your spare time could provide much needed assistance to the staff and animal residents of the shelter. 

Volunteer Opportunities are available in the following areas:

New volunteers can experience opportunities in:

  • Exercising and Socializing animals
  • Kennel care
  • Animal Pictures

Additional opportunities for experienced volunteers include:

  • Bathing and grooming animals
  • Adoption counseling
  • Assisting with training in basic dog obedience skills
  • Foster care
  • Animal transport

Friends of York County Animal Shelter (our volunteer 501c3 support group) offers additional opportunities with special events, transport, clerical, social media, community outreach, fundraising, and grant writing to experienced volunteers.

Become a Volunteer
If you are interested in helping, complete a 
Volunteer Application Form. 

You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.
