  • Coordinates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and information exchange efforts for York County Government.
  • Acts as curators of the County GIS data assets but not as data editors.
  • The GIS division adds value to data by turning them into higher-level information products for decision making.
  • Assists staff in any department with GIS instruction, field data collection, and map making.

York County GIS is a division of the Information Technology (IT) Department.  GIS staff are responsible for overseeing the County's baseline digital spatial databases and for providing state-of-the-art mapping and data services to County departments, citizens, local governments, and businesses. The GIS division of IT is only the curator of the information, and does not create new data.
