Filing Fees: $100.00 - Unopposed, $50.00 - Opposed

Filing Details:
  • Any citizen desiring to file for office must be a qualified elector (registered voter) of the Ward and a resident of the Town of Fort Mill.
  • Anyone interested in filing for office must do so in person at the York County Registration and Elections Office located in the E. C. Black Building, 13 S. Congress St. in York.
  • Candidates are required to complete a Statement of Candidacy in order to complete the filing process.
Ethics Forms
  • Candidates must file an Statement of Economic Interests and Campaign Disclosure Forms with South Carolina State Ethics Commission.
  • Failure to file with the South Carolina State Ethics Commission may result in fines for not filing an SEI and may not take office if they haven't filed an SEI.
  • However, filing of the SEI has no bearing on ballot access or the ability of a candidate to win an election.

Photo ID is Required for Voting

Voters are required to have a photo ID in order to vote in person for all elections.

Voters will now need to show one of the five forms of Photo IDs list below in order to vote in-person:

  • S.C. Driver's License
  • ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
  • S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • U.S. Passport

The York County Voter Registration and Elections office in York is available Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for anyone needing a Voter Photo ID at no cost.
