VOTER REGISTRATION FACTS
If you are not registered to vote in York County you must become registered at least 30 days prior to an election in order to vote. If you are 18 years of age, a US citizen and legal resident of York County, with no felony convictions for which you are currently serving a sentence, including probation, and you are not declared mentally incompetent by a court of law, then you can register to vote. Residents of South Carolina do not register by party. However, when scheduled primary elections are held, in June of even years, you will be required to select a party when you go to the polls to vote. The selection of a party is binding only for that election, or run-off election if required, and does not require the voter stay with that party in the general election.
