If you are charged with a crime and cannot afford an attorney, you may be eligible for representation from the Public Defender's Office.

The Public Defender's Office provides legal representation for indigent people who are charged with General Sessions level offenses. It is located in the Moss Justice Center on Highway 5, one mile east of York.

Applications for a Public Defender are accepted at the Clerk of Court's Office, also in the Moss Justice Center. There is a non-refundable $40 fee to apply for a Public Defender.
