B104 PENALTIES
Where work for which a permit is required by this code is started or proceeded prior to obtaining said permit, the fees herein specified shall be doubled, but the payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of this code in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties prescribed herein.
B105 PLAN-CHECKING FEES
When the valuation of the proposed construction exceeds $1,000.00 and a plan is required to be submitted by 104.2, a plan-checking fee shall be paid to the building official at the time of submitting plans and specifications for checking. Said plan-checking fee shall be equal to one-half of the building permit fee as set forth in 103.7.4. Such plan-checking fee is in addition to the building permit fee.

Call the Building & Codes Division at (803) 909-7200. Inspections must be called in 24 hours ahead of time. You will need to provide your permit number and the type of inspection needed. Please be sure all work has been completed before requesting an inspection.
An inspector can usually determine the time of arrival within a few hours. However, the public is encouraged to call before 9:00 a.m., leave a message, and the inspector will return your call before leaving for the field.
Call the switchboard between 8:00am and 8:30am on the day of your inspection, ask the operator to speak to the inspector, they will need your permit number.
- If the building is less than 200sq/ft and not on a permanent foundation, you will need a Zoning Compliance (909-7235) to regulate the set-back requirements for your property.
