The York County Sheriff’s Office, along with other law enforcement agencies within York County, Keystone Substance Abuse Services, York County All On Board and many other private and public concerns, have teamed-up to provide a safe, secure and anonymous way to dispose of those medicines. Permanent pill drop boxes have been installed at the York County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Mill Police Department, the Rock Hill Police Department and the Winthrop University Police Department.
The green metal collection box was recently installed in the Sheriff’s Office lobby at the Moss Justice Center. The pill drop boxes allow York County residents to deliver unused, unwanted or expired medications to law enforcement officials, who can in-turn dispose of these controlled substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner.
There is no paperwork to complete, you don’t have to give your name or any other information; you simply drop the medicines in the pill drop box and you are done. I encourage everyone to take this simple precaution and help keep potentially dangerous drugs away from those who would abuse them.
Identify an area you would like to clean up, then arrange a time to pick up your supplies from York County Solid Waste Collection and Recycling office at 220 Public Works Road, York, SC.
