Whats New With GIS Online

December 15, 2008 - NEW GIS Online announced.  Email gis@yorkcountygov.com to help us review and test.

September 26, 2008 - FEMA Floodplain was delivered to York County and is now available as a GIS Online layer.

April 13, 2008 - Property Sales Year updated to include 2008 sales.  (Symbology for 2009 added so that it would not need a change next year).

January 1, 2008 - Clover Zoning added/updated.

June 6, 2007 - October 2006 orthophotography now available from Aerials Express.  Access this new imagery by making the layer visible in the GIS Online Table of Contents.  Resolution is .5 meter for each pixel.  Within the next few months we expect to make the Jan/Feb 2007 Pictometry imagery available through a new release of GIS Online that uses ArcGIS Server.

May 14, 2007 - Property Sales Year modified to display 2007 in orange.  Utilities database was moved a few weeks ago, stormwater and hydrant data now present and updated.

October 8, 2006 - Property Sales Year Layer modified to include only the last 3 years of sales symbolized by 3 colors. County Appraiser staff suggested this modification. Tax Assessor Sales report added as a link to the "Online Mapping Applications" page. While this is not currently a (~)mapping(~) website it does display taxdata and there are plans to include a sales history report for the vicinity of a selected property in the next version of GIS Online. The rewrite of the website is expected to begin towards the end of 2006 once we receive ArcIMS 9.2. County Staff have already begun a review of existing county property search websites to build an inventory of desired features.

August 17, 2006 - Orthophotos Report added to GIS Online.  This report is available along with the Parcel, Community, Environment, Zoning and Data Extraction once a land parcel has been identified.  The report allows users a quick means to determine what the land looked like in 2005, 2002, 2000, 1999, 1994, 1990, and also provides a view of topography from the 2000 flyover (shaded relief and topo).

August 16, 2006 - Two new Online Mapping Applications, Adopt a Highway and SCDOT Traffic Count.

June 19, 2006 - upgraded to new server, maps rendered much faster now through GIS Online.  Old server available now in failover mode.

June 15, 2006 - Added County Collection and Recycling Centers layer to help citizens find the nearest place to take their trash and recyclables. 

January 13, 2006 - Added Subdivision Development Plans and Subdivision Development Drawings.  Also altered the exisitng Zoning Buffer Overlay the buffer layer distance or width. Altered the subdivision boundary layer to a red outline.

November 28, 2005 - Added Property Sales Year symbolized from shades of orange to blue for the years 1990 to 2005.  The year a property was sold is labeled on the parcel for all years in a two digit format, including years before 1990.  Note:  there may be incorrect information presented.  Always check the source records at the county courthouse.

October 30, 2005 - USGS Quadrangle Map (DRG) added for the counties in SC adjacent to York.  In some areas, USGS Quadrangle Maps have not been updated in 10 or more years but offer an easy to read map with additional cartographic features unavailable anywhere else.  1994 and 1999 USGS digital orthophoto quadrangle (DOQ) layers have been available for some time on this website for York County, now you can view these orthophoto products for adjacent counties.  1994 is greyscale while 1999 is color-infrared (CIR), both have 1m ground resolution.  All this information becomes useful when combined with the county(~)s detailed datasets such as parcels, addresses and utilities.

October 29, 2005 - Shaded Relief (Detailed) layer added.  This terrain model allows you to read elevation and land surface features from the map easier through shades of color representing change in elevation.  The surface elevation data was produced from the county(~)s 2000 flyover planimetric product 2 ft topography (available as a layer for viewing and download), and is only available for a portion of the county. 

October 28, 2005 - Sale Date added to subdivision search downloadable csv file.  Subdivision Search is located in the list of web links on the left side of this page and not part of the mapping website. 

Oct 24, 2005 - County wide 2005 Orthophotos available.

August 4, 2005 - Tega Cay half-foot 100 scale 2005 Orthophotography added as a layer. 

July 20, 2005 - Symbology added to USGS Quad Topo to distinguish Index (100 ft) from Intermediate (50 ft) from 10 ft contour lines.  Contour features are now labeled with their elevation.

June 20, 2005 - Lancaster County Land Parcels and Roads added as a layer.  Chester County Roads layer added.  Note:  These are snapshots of these datasets may become many months old.

March 9, 2005 - Street - County vs SCDOT layer added, this symbolizes the street network to display ownership and maintenance responsibility.  Traffic (Stop) Signs added, this project involved Road staff from Public Works in a 2 month inventory of over 2,000 stop signs maintained by the County.  Stormwater Structure Type, BMP and Flow were also added today.  Stormwater collects these features using GPS and ArcPad as well as through digital submittal files.

March 29, 2005 - Adopt-a-Highway layer added.

January 31, 2005 - Counties with GIS Online in USA layer added.

January 6, 2005 - 2002 NEast County Orthophoto (USGS-Urban Area) added for the area of York County north of Fort Mill.   Land Use Plan Overlay added, this combines existing layers Future Greenway, Mixed-Use Centers, and Conceptual Urban Services Area.  Points of Interest layer added.

November 29, 2004 - Land Use Plan (2025) layer added along with the Proposed Greenway 2025 and Conceptual Urban Services Area.

September 3, 2004 - County Zoning (1 of 2) and (2 of 2) renamed from Multi-Zoned Parcels layer.

August 11, 2004 - Land Parcel Lot Number Label added.

April 22, 2004 - Subdivision layer added.  Rock Hill and York City Zoning layers added.  Special Development Issues layer added noting properties with a Variance, Unapproved Plats, Rezonings, Public Service Use and Special Exceptions.

April 16, 2004 - Land Use Plan Overlay layer added displaying areas of restriction described in County Ordinance (Scenic, Transportation Preservation Corridor, and Lake Wylie Catawba River Buffer).  Multi-Zoned Parcels layer added.  This layer displays parcels that have multiple zoning values.

April 5, 2004 - GIS Online designed and constructed by in-house GIS and programming staff available to public.  This website includes the ClipZipNShip components made available a year ago in a separate website.

April 15, 2003 - ClipZipNShip available.  Download a zipped file containing layers clipped to a tile of data extracted from the data seen in the viewer.

November 15, 2002 - GIS Online website (Parcel iMap) first made available to the public.

March 2001 - County acquires GIS Online website (Parcel iMap) and staff begin to adopt GIS.
