Dr. Britt Blackwell, Chairman
Dr. Britt Blackwell, Chairman of the York County Council, is a Republican from District 6. He is a Rock Hill native, where he resides with his wife Martha and son, Phillip. His daughter Christina lives in North Carolina and is a nurse (R.N.). Dr. Blackwell is a graduate of Clemson University and The Medical Center of the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He is an Optometric Physician and founder of Blackwell Eye Associates in Rock Hill. He was elected to the Rock Hill School Board in 1994 and 1998. Dr. Blackwell served on the S.C. State Board of Education from 2007 to the end of 2010. Dr. Blackwell also served on the Executive Committee of the S.C. Optometric Physicians Association for 4 years. He and his family are members of Ebenezer ARP Church in Rock Hill.
