Authority: Ordinance adopted by York County Council on March 5, 1979. Ordinance amended by York County Council on 11/19/90 to include the Tega Cay Chamber of Commerce (ord. #5890). Ordinance amended by York County Council on 2/7/94 to include a representative of the Catawba Indian Nation.
Governing Body: The Economic Development Board shall consist of 17 member to be appointed by the County Council, two members shall be from the Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the York Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the Clover Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the Fort Mill Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the Tega Cay Chamber of Commerce, one member shall be from the Catawba Indian Nation, Council shall appoint four members from the public at large, one member shall be from Winthrop University, one member shall be from York Technical College and three members shall be from York County Growth Partners, Inc.
Term of Office: Three years. Vacancies are filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by York County Council.
Function: To promote and increase industrial and business development, encourage and promote economic development and expansion, coordinate development efforts and activities of local and state agencies and promote the involvement of public and private participation in development activities, all of which will enure to the benefit and welfare of the county and its citizens.
