Authority: Ordinance adopted by the County Council April 17, 1978, pursuant to Acts 112 or 1974 and 282 of 1975.

Governing Body: Eleven members appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the County Legislative Delegation with the advice and consent of the majority of the County Council. One member from each Council District and four at-large.

Term of Office: Four-year staggered terms

Function: To provide for the administration, planning, coordination, and service delivery system for County Mental Retardation Services. To promote and accept local financial support for mental retardation programs. To hire personnel to carry out its plans and programs.
